About the PMHNP opportunity

• High acuity admissions

• Team approach including complete clinical evaluation, psychological testing, therapy, medication management, activity, and lifestyle education.

• Average day of admission is 7 days

• Patients range in age from pediatrics to geriatrics

• Daily rounds with team that consists of Psychiatrist, Psychologist, PMHNP, RN, OT, and Pharmacist

• Intake evaluations including clinical history, diagnosis, treatments, and previous medications

• Adjust and monitor medications with focus on improving daily living outcomes

• Track and document daily notes for follow up and measure of improvement

• Participate in team interdisciplinary meetings and establish discharge plan with transition to the community

Requirements of the PMHNP job

• License to practice in State of Wisconsin as PMHNP

• Keen understanding of Pharmacologic treatments for Major Depressive disorder, Anxiety, Defiant disorder, Psychosis, and Bipolar disease

• Experience with Inpatient Psychiatric Patient care

• Master’s Degree with clinical hours in Psychiatry (inpatient hours preferred)

• Interest in care for patients with chronic mental illness and patients with acute crisis

• Lean toward teamwork and ability to communicate well with patients, families, and comprehensive hospital team
