Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner with Addiction Medicine experience for an exciting new Mobile Unit in Queens, New York.  Strong Community Center has received a Federal grant to develop a community based MAT Program to combat the Opioid Crisis. This pilot study will become a nationwide Program.  Join the team and make an impact with teens and adults that are struggling with addiction.  Change the trajectory of someone’s live.  

About the PMHNP or Addiction Medicine NP opportunity

  • Mobile Unit team is NP, Counselor, Peer, and Driver
  • Unit is state of the art- nurses station, 4 counseling or exam rooms, medical lounge area, and bathroom
  • Hours of operation at 10-6 Monday-Friday
  • Travel and park at local communities that are disadvantaged and disenfranchised
  • Build relationships of trust within the community
  • Evaluate patients and assess best treatment using MAT, initiate use of Buprenorphine and/or Naltrexone and referral to medical and behavioral health facilities
  • Encourage daily follow up or inpatient treatment when appropriate
  • Be available for health screening and health promotion and prevention conversations with patients
  • Conduct HIV/HEPC screening when indicated
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Document notes in 10e11 EMR

Requirements of the PMHNP or Addiction Medicine NP opportunity

  • Master’s Degree completion as PMHNP or NP with emphasis on Mental Health clinical training
  • New York State Medical Practice
  • DATA 2000 “X” waiver
  • DEA license
  • Experience and proven interest in working with Addiction Medicine
  • Technology savvy and efficient with documenting patient encounters in EMR
  • Live near Queens for easy accessibility to Mobile Unit for hours 10-6.
  • Spanish speaking is greatly appreciated
